Camp Site Visit

We went to a camp site yesterday. Actually, it is not the normal camp grounds that you probably have in your mind right now. It is a prison facility which they call camps and the inmates, they call campers. The campers committed crimes because of bad choices and as I looked at them, they are normal educated individuals. Yesterday was our fourth visit and by listening to their stories, it made me realized how lucky we are who chose to be a LAW-ABIDING citizen. Why I call them normal people? I saw campers who are mothers hugging their sons and daughters. I saw daughters, misty eyes talking to their parents. They have no crazy tattoos or fierce-looking faces! We were accommodated in a visitors lounge, a huge canteen-type area. There are tables and chairs and you can sit wherever you want. You can't bring anything except few bucks, car keys and your ID. When you go inside the visitors area, you will feel at ease. It is not like the typical prison cell in movies with all the guards everywhere. My first time to see the campers, they live OKAY but, not okay because it is still a prison cell. Y'all know what I mean right?

Most of them performs white-collar jobs before they were convicted to a crime punishable in a low minimum penitentiary. Most of them probably committed crimes such as fraud and drug position. The facility is open but, they have strict regulations! Any campers can scape if they want because they are not lock down, no fences or barb wire around them! Their quarters are not lock with steel bars. It is like a college campus but, for so many years you can't go home!

With this experience, it taught me to EMBRACE the GIFT of FREEDOM! It is EASY to follow the rules of the society. It is my pleasure to RESPECT the rights of other people! We have the freedom to choose our friends so, stay away from bad influence! Stay out of trouble and please, PRAY hard that GOD will be there for guidance. Be GOOD everyone!
