Craving for Midnight Snacks

I am not ready to hit the bed yet. My mind wanders .... and my tummy is growling for food. A cup of coffee with cream would be nice to have right now. I am wide awake. I wanted to finish my tasks but, my mind did otherwise. My tummy is growling for food. Weird but, I wanted to bake a carrot cake ... yeah I know, it's past midnight for crying out loud!

Okay, I am ready to check on the pantry and hoping to find something to satisfy my cravings. Have a good Friday everyone and please, spread the spirit of Christmas. Don't forget to share. The picture above was taken right after thanksgiving day.  See you around.

Ricotta Cheese

My husband and I attended a beautiful wedding last Sunday which was held by the lake in the innermost area in Missouri. After the ceremony, the wedding entourage took their pictures outdoor while the guests were guided to the beautiful reception area down the basement of a restaurant. The guests started nibbling the fruits, salads and cheeses but some were already digging on the delicious lasagna with Ricotta Cheese.
I am not a big fan of cheese but, for the first time I ate a full plate of variety of cheeses. It was so good especially when I ate the grapes and strawberries with it. They served variety of food and everyone really enjoyed the delicious foodies on the table. The lasagna was so creamy and one of the most favorite menu that day.

Did you know that ricotta is a favorite component of many Italian desserts? I assumed that most of us love Italian food right? Ricotta Cheese is a good ingredient in making cheesecakes, cannoli, and some cookies. But, Ricotta Cheese is commonly used in savory dishes and that includes pasta, calzone, pizza, manicotti, lasagna, and ravioli. If in case you have no mayonnaise, Ricotta Cheese is a suitable substitute in any traditional egg or tuna salad as well as a sauce thickener. Anyway, since they have Hawaiian guests, they also have steamed rice and kalua.

We left after the slicing of the cake since we had to head back to another town to catch our flight. All I could think of was the awesome view by the lake, the beautiful ceremony, and the great food they served which are aplenty. All the guests are dear friends and close knit family of the bride and groom.

UNO Chicago Grill at Wickham Road

It's 18 days before Christmas and I am excited! How are you everyone? The weather here in Orlando is NICE and I love it! How about you? Have you done your shopping yet? You better check your list now or else, you will have a panick buying on Christmas Eve, LOL! Anyway, yesterday we travelled 50 miles from Orlando. We went to Melbourne to visit the listing company of the townhouse that we are interested. Along the way, we saw this restaurant:We had lunch at UNO Chicago Grill which is located in 8260 North Wickham Road, Melbourne, FL 32940. Our server did a wonderful job and the manager tried to check on us if we enjoyed our meal. Of course we did! This restaurant is cozy and the ambiance is really great! We love the food and though I only ordered two plates of appetizers, it fills me up bigtime! I ordered Stuffed Mushrooms with portabello, shiitake, goat and romano cheeses. The appetizer that I enjoyed the most is the sauteed shrimp with white beans and breadsticks.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant and this location too.

Dixie Crossroads Seafood Restaurant

Aren't they cute? They are shrimps and they are everywhere in the vicinity of Dixie Crossroads property. This is a restaurant located in Titusville Florida, famous for shrimps: reds, whites, pinks, hoppers, brownies and rock shrimps. I did not know there are so many varieties of shrimps because, my concern is just eat 'em. (grinning)This is the side of the restaurant as we walk to the entrance. This property is huge, with a good size pond, and the ambiance is warm and friendly.
Along the side of the road, Dixie Crossroads would look like a flat building, nothing special but, inside the restaurant is crowded. That would mean, the business is doing great! This is the wall decor of the restaurant and it emphasized the famous people who dine in to this restaurant mostly Astronauts.
Would you like to sit with Mr and Mrs Shrimps here? I did! (lol)
I recommend that you visit this place. If you are looking for shrimps, they have it for all season. The food is great and the prices are affordable. What else to say? Go! Other pictures is right HERE.

Provone Cheese

Husband and I loves any milk-based food products and that includes provolone cheese and swiss cheese. We typically use it as ingredients in all our cooking recipes. For breakfast, we love to have a scrambled egg with lots of tomatoes and cheese in it. But, wait until you see this Mexican egg skillet which I think, one of the tastiest breakfast ever. The ingredients that we love is put together in this recipe. The mushrooms and bell peppers make it delicious and very filling topped with cheese. I am planning to prepare this breakfast tomorrow and I am glad to find the ingredients and the procedures in this recipe. If you are interested to have this meal, just visit the Website for more information. Here's a friendly reminder: don't skip your breakfast!

Food, Cravings and Buffet

When I think about cakes and pastries, and craving for those Southern Style Food displayed in a buffet set up, all I have to do is visit a Chinese Restaurant. Yep! That is close enough to Beau Rivage Buffet in Biloxi, Mississippi. You should check out Beau Rivage Hotel and Casino in Biloxi. This place is totally awesome! Living in Mississippi is different here in Orlando. Life there is easy and relax. People go to work, eat out and always have the time with family. I live in a small town where people loves the beach, involved in the community and family-oriented. When the town has activities, everybody goes there and just have a good time. Casino's thrive in the area of Biloxi and I love it. I don't gamble but, I enjoyed eating and hopping from one casino to another. Beau Rivage Hotel is my most favorite casino because I can enjoy shopping inside as well as fill me up in when I am hungry.

Soft Bake by Pepperidge Farm

I am not a cookie monster and I can live a day without a cookie snack. There is an exception to that though! If there is a Pepperidge product in the house, I will be an eating machine and will only quit when it's all devoured! LOL! Sounds an exageration? It's your call but, I truly love this product.
I was curious why I love Pepperidge and what's in the taste that pass my simple taste? My curiousity led me to visit the Website and I read " A PASSION FOR BAKING: Everything we bake has a heart and soul, and you can taste it." Oh well, need I explain more to you? Go get one yourself and you can tell. Enjoy your Pepperidge Cookie!

Food in IKEA

One of the home stores in Orlando that we miss while we live in Mississippi is IKEA the Mall of Millenia. We love this place because it is very convenient for us to find the things that we need in the house. I love the furniture designs and the food in this Swedish Store. This store opened in November 14, 2007, basically turning three years this year. Why this store is convenient? All the surrounding vicinity is all I need to spend a funfilled day of shopping and enjoy a good meal. Hubby loves to shop so early in the day to avoid the rush and the huge crowd of shoppers. We always take advantage of their affordable breakfast and they have oh-so-yummy food on display. Check out my plate here, it's salmon fillet with vegies. I am not a vegie lover but, I clean my plate here. The flavor is so good especially this mushy vegie with broccoli in it.

Visit the food section in IKEA and when you are full, shop all you need for your home improvements. They have special event this coming December 10, 2010. IKEA will be serving dinner buffet for limited seats from 6 PM for less than $10. How cool is that? I will see you there!

Breakfast at the Beau Rivage

Today, we went to Beau Rivage Hotel and Casino for breakfast. I miss my co-workers in Boomtown so, I arranged a breakfast get-together with Sam and Debbie. It was fun to see them both and catch up with what's going on in their lives. The ambiance of this place is awesome! Did I tell you that this is my favorite casino here in Biloxi? Yes! I love the Beau!
Anyway, Sam is my best friend in my workplace. He is black and we get along good because we are good workers in the casino. You will never see us hiding to get away from the tasks of our job. If it is an 8 hour job, we are up on our feet. We really wished that other workers worked the same as we did but, hey....everyone is different! Debbie is our lead. She is really a hard working lead and like any other boss, she had her share of disappointments when it comes to her subordinates. But, life must go on! Sam and Debbie hang on, extending more patient in the workplace. For me, I had to leave for other reasons.

Here is the gigantic Beau Rivage. If I stay here in Biloxi, I want to work in the hotel especially in the Beau Rivage. If you happen to pass by Biloxi and Highway 90, visit this casino or stay in their hotel. The experience inside is different!

Healthy Food for a Healthy Body

I love to eat and my body figure remains the same. I am not a body conscious kind'a person and in fact, my goal is to gain weight. I weigh 95 lbs only and passing a 100lbs is too hard for me to achieve. These are the sweets, cakes and pastries that I usually ate whenever we dine out. If we are not rushing, I can eat this food on the plate. Are these food healthy or not? Sometimes, we just eat according to what we crave right?
I am not fond of eating too much cake lately. Maybe because we have this in my workplace and it's FREE all the time. I tell you what? I don't eat the filling and the icing on the cake too. I am not on a diet but, I don't crave for it.

Now, these are onion rings, boilede and fried shrimps, corn bread, mashed potato and a chicken. I honestly do not count the calories when I ate but, I just go eat what soothe my tastebuds. If I am hungry, I maybe can finish these food but, most of the time I don't. I might eat the corn bread and that's it. Do not get me wrong, these are delicious but, I guess I am picky with food.

Here is what I can eat: seafood, rice, mushrooms, baked potato and a little bit of fried shrimp. I also noticed lately that I am not fond of eating fried foods. Baked foods are good for me too. I love rice especially steamed rice. I only eat instant rice in the casino. Here is a healthy salad that I love to eat most of the time at home. I use Italian dressing and creamy caesar salad dressing too. Salads are healthy and that is for sure and I love fresh lettuce. My metabolism is really good so, the more I move, I am okay. We should choose healthy food to have a healthy body and have a sound mind right?

Salad: Healthy Food

The food in my workplace is FREE. It is like a buffet that you can choose and in our breakroom, we have our own cook. Since I have an early lunch schedule since December, it is seldom that the available food will be displayed on my time. The good thing was, I can always order hot food on the menu provided. There were plenty actually. Anyway, on this particular day, the cook can not do anything for me and so; I took this salad from the fridge. This is the best salad that I ever tasted and I used Two Thousand dressing. Really yummy, healthy and simply filling.

Beef Stew

In my workplace, we have FREE food everyday. We also have a break room with good cook in the kitchen. There are so many food to choose in the display area such as salad, cake, rolls, chips, unlimited drinks in all kinds and if you want to order warm food, the cook will make it from scratch. I usually love to eat rice, sweet and sour, ham, pork spare ribs and sweet potato. Those are delicious alright but, when you eat the same type of food almost everyday (for months), your taste buds will complain. During my day off, I would pamper myself with Filipino Foods such as this beef stew with Datu Puti Soy Sauce in it.
The picture above is my finish product but, I let it sit in the crock pot after using the frying pan..
I chose the red meat but it was lean so it was not tough to eat. I have pre-chopped onions, bell pepper with colors green, yellow and red.
I am not a cook but, i tried to cook the food that I missed so much.

Pecan Health Benefits

The display during the Peter Anderson Festival which was held in Ocean Springs, Mississippi also includes food and delicacies. I love any kinds of nuts and this display will not go unnoticed with my sight.
Pecan is native to Southern Iowa, Illinois and Indiana. It is also found at the east to western Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and western Tennessee. Likewise, in south through Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Florida. Pecan pie and pecan coated with chocolates are just one of my favorite snacks to gobble on. The word Pecan is from an Algonquian word that means a nut requiring a stone to crack.
Pecan is a good source of protein and unsaturated fats. It is rich in omega-6 fatty acids and a diet rich in nuts can lower the risk of gallstones in women. The antioxidants and plant sterols found in pecans reduce high cholesterol by reducing the "bad" LDL cholesterol levels. According to a Clinical research, eating about a handful of pecans each day may help lower cholesterol levels. A research conducted at the University of Georgia confirmed that pecans contain plant sterols, which are known for their cholesterol-lowering ability. Scientific evidence suggests, but does not prove, that eating 1.5 ounces per day of most nuts, such as pecans, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease."

Po Boy and Fries

This is Oyster Po Boy with French Fries , a regular lunch for my husband. These Po Boy are common in the menu of so many restaurants in Mississippi. Inside are lettuce and tomato with mayonnaise.
There are times that we are lazy to cook and so, we went to Snapper Seafood Restaurant. I ordered chicken Po Boy and the fries are already included. Being a Filipina, I need rice so, this is not my kind of regularmeal. I can eat this though but usually, half part only.
Happy Monday Eveyone!

Got A Package

For almost two years now, I have been longing to eat Filipino exotic foods like bagoong and tuyo. I like to eat these with white rice and with a home made dip, white vinegar with red chili. Oh so yummy. It's so hard to find "salted fish" in the grocery store or even in the Chinese store here. Then, Rio a blogger friend sent me a package this week. I was so delighted to see what she have for me.
She also sent me an eye color, cheek color, lip liner and a brow liner. Wheww! What a thoughtful friend I have in her right? She had a birthday yesterday and yet, she was the one who send me a package. I already have something for her though.
I had my hearty lunch yesterday. It feels like I am in the Philippines again,LOL! These are salted fish and the preparation is so easy. Just fry it and dip in vinegar with pepper. When you fry them, make sure you inform the occupant of your house, it will smell hehehe. Mostly, the smell is not good, but for us Filipinos, it smells an appetiser food.
After lunch, I burn scented candles and walahhh...the house smells fresh again. hehehe. My hubby and Father-in-law doesn't mind at all. As long as I am happy and nourished....hehehe.

Starlight Cafe In Magic Kingdom

If you are on a vacation in Orlando, you might as well check out Magic Kingdom of Disney World. From the parking lot, you will have to ride on their Disney car and bring you over to the station of either Monorail or Ferry Boat. It's your preference really. If you want to sight seeing along the waterbanks, have the ferry. If you want to see the view over looking the magical Disney property then, have the monorail. Both rides will bring you over to the Magic Kingdom Entrance, checking your pass. The prices of the food are higher than usual but, right here in Starlight Cafe', you will be amazed of the reasonable price.

Tuna In Burger Bun

We went to the beach today and when we got home, my hubby was tired. So, I went to the kitchen and made a Tuna sandwich but, I use the burger bun. I love lettuce and tomato, my all time favorite vegetables so, I added it in my sandwich. I deep fried 5 pieces of the chicken neck. No skin, I did not include the chicken skin because it is full of fats. When it's done, oh! it taste good. It is crunchy and so tasty. I missed the fried chicken neck in Sunburst Restaurant. If you are a Filipino, you might know this restaurant.
They really specialized fried chicken and the chicken neck is truly oh so good.
This is my hubby's plate..hehehe...smaller than mine. Notice he got only two chicken neck and mine is more....LOL!
