The Beautiful View of the Gulf Coast

I took this picture while we went to Gulfport, Mississippi. Nice view huh? After every hurricanes, this area is calm and the view is relaxing. You cannot even tell how ferocious hurricanes are until you look at the land across the street of US 90 highway.

If you drive down the Gulf Coast, you will see art work of wood carvings from the old oak trees which are hundred years old or more, damaged by hurricanes. A wise idea to preserved the trees instead of uprooting them, they make it an art and it was beautiful. The artwork are wood carvings of birds found in the gulf coast as well as sea animals. Check out these work of art when you travel along US 90 in Mississippi. Stop by the beach too and take a swim...you will love it here.

Visiting the Ship Island

When we were in Mississippi last September, I really wanted to go to Ship Island. We only have 5 days stay in the hotel and we had so much to do in a short time. I insisted of going to Ship Island so; we went to the Gulfport along US 90.When we were there, the captain told us that trips to Ship Island was cancelled due to the weather. When we look at the sky, the picture above is what we saw. Blue and clear! For the 10th times, we had to detour and we were back in the hotel. After lunch, there was a big storm! The looks can be deceiving huh? Nature is really beautiful when it's like this but on stormy day, you don't want to be near it.

Ship Island is located in the North Central Gulf of Mexico. It is about 11 miles off the Mississippi Coast. This place is one of the last undeveloped barrier islands in America and it is part of Gulf Islands National Seashore and protected by the U.S. Park Service. This exquisite sand island offer visitors the first high quality beaches for swimming and shelling east of New Orleans.

This place has an outstanding beaches, beautiful water and clean gulf air. Locals and visitors consistently rate the 22-mile round trip to Ship Island as the coast’s premier waterborne experience. Awesome right? I know one day, I can visit Ship Island.

Beautiful View By the Gulf

This is the bridge connecting two cities of Mississippi along the Gulf Coast, Biloxi and Ocean Springs. It's so beautiful right? The Isle is a hotel and a casino which is located at the tip of this bridge. The Isle is in Biloxi so; across the bridge is Ocean Springs.Still looking at the direction of Ocean Springs, the sunrise was really beautiful that day. Since we have a balcony in the room, we can see the sunshine from the bed. That was an awesome sight! The bay was so calm that morning. The fishermen started to sail. Those are actually shrimp boats coming from the boat dock at the back of Hard Rock Biloxi. In this hotel, we stayed for a day only because we are done with the business transaction the day before. When there is no hurricane, the Gulf is a paradise! Imagine waking up seeing the sunshine glimmering like this.Down below is the parking spaces of the Isle and there are RV's that I saw which are parked down there. Parking your RV's would be okay. Parking space is never a problem down here. Anyway, hubby and I enjoyed our vacation here and we were able to attend a family important event too. We hope to comeback this Christmas or early next year.

The Fun Times

We arrived in Mississippi yesterday around three in the afternoon and the first thing we did after checking in the hotel was drive down the beach. The Gulf of Mexico is the panoramic view from our hotel. The beach is a walking distance and so, we stayed there as we sat comfortably on the available Adirondack chairs. There were Picnic Tables and Park Benches along the beach and anyone can use it for free. The long stretched of beaches along the Beach Boulevard is a good place to unwind and I can sit there whole day watching the sea and enjoying the sea breeze.

During this time of the year, the beach is a beautiful hang out for family and we saw teenagers setting a volleyball net for them to play with friends. At the Ocean Springs Beach, they have a park with the amazing view of the Gulf. That park was financed from the budget allotted to the city from the Katrina fund. They decided that a park would benefit everyone and they added beautiful playground equipment. The children are playing the swing, slides, see saw and water jets. We will be here for the whole week so, I have a lot to share.

Anyway, if you live nearby the beach and wanted to accessorize your patio, visit the links and you can find the items that you need. This company has the infant swing and play system which you can add to your yard for kids to play. The prices of their products are affordable and you should check it out today.

Fishing Boats in Gulf Coast

After my two days trip to the Saint Augustine, I began to appreciate the coast of Florida. No wonder that it is one of the best tourist destinations in the world because it has the beauty of nature, perfect beaches and the weather that you can enjoy to stay outdoor most of the season.I had the privileged of living in Mississippi down the Gulf Coast for almost two years. I must admit, it was equally beautiful. We live just 3 minutes away from the beach and the view was just perfect.
The people are friendly, the food is great, the crime is very low and the place is pretty awesome. Almost every weekend, there are activities in the town and I witness all the happy events in the place.
The wonderful scenery will be seen at the parking garage of Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. The fishing boats mostly owned by the Vietnamese fishermen in Biloxi. They sell fresh craw fish, shrimps, blue crab, and all kinds of fishes at affordable price. You should come visit this place. The beach and the food are irresistible.

Driving by the Beach

We went to Hard Rock last Friday and had our dinner in the Satisfaction Buffet. It is a place where we hang out most of the time because the food is simply great. I took these pictures as we drove on our way to the casino.
The view at the back of Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. These are shrimp boats and mostly owned by Vietnamese fishermen.
The island in the picture is called Deer Island. There are locals who go all the way to that island and do camping.
A closer look of the Deer Island showing at the background. The posts on the water are damaged private dock from the Hurricane Katrina, yes ... it is still there.
Biloxi is a nice place. The beaches are good for swimming, jetski rides and blessed with fresh seafoods especially king crabs and craw fish.

Gulf Coast

We went to the beach today and as you can see in the picture, the sand is blown away towards the highway. Despite the windy condition, there are so many teens on the beach and having a good time for Spring Break. We are in Gulf Coast along Highway 90 in Biloxi area and heading to Ocean Springs. Take a look at this picture below.
An Eyesore
According to Channel 13, WLOX, the City of Biloxi received so many complains that this boat is an eyesore to this beautiful place. They can't remove it yet because legal papers should be serve first to the owner and he is nowhere to be found.

Gulf Coast Scenery

If you travel Highway 90 from Florida heading to the West, you will be passing the scenery of Gulf Coast. During this time, the wind gushing hard and blowing the white sand towards the highway.

This is The Isle Casino, located right after the bridge connecting Biloxi and Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Beside this building will soon rise The Margaritaville Casino and Resort and it will soon arrive in 2010. I am so excited!
On the adjacent street, you will see The Grand Casino.
The building you see at the far end is The Isle Casino and on the left is The Grand Casino. The vacant lot before The Isle Casino is under construction for The Margaritaville Casino and Resort. Beautiful Scenery right?

Gone Fishing

My father-in-law wanted to go fishing today. This place is actually just 5 minutes away from our house. We live with in the National Park area so, this is the view. Six of us tag along with dad, just wanted to hang out with him anyway. And trying to observe if he can catch fish. Well, after more than an hour, dad was so disappointed because he can't catch fish. He blamed it to the rough waves and strong winds...LOL!
