Cruising Plans

As much as we want to go on cruising, it will not happen so soon because I need to renew my documents. I was browsing my album in my old PC and look what I found. Pictures that I took with hubby in it and me, with my hand trying to play the camera caption.

Actually, I still have tons of photos unpublished in my blog during our Bahamas cruising. Hubby and I miss cruising especially when Norwegian Cruise Line and Carnival Cruise Line keep sending us Cruising Packages that's so unbelievably appealing.  Believe me, it is so affordable!

Amazing Places That I Have Been

I love to read history books and fascinating stories of the people, the society, and their way of life in the past. Those are reasons why I took Education majoring in Social Studies in the university. It helps me understand the behavior of people and out of that; I believe that through education people can come out from poverty.

I traveled half way around the globe already and I have seen beautiful places, friendly people, amazing cultures and great way of life. I am not a jet setter if that's what you think. From the Philippines, I've been to Japan, Bahamas and a dozen states in the USA. Check out these interesting facts: Philippines is known as the Pearl of the Orient Seas; Bahamas is the Sailing Capital of the World; Japan is known as the Land of the Rising Sun; and the USA is the Land of the Milk and Honey.
I never know that the meaning of Kuwait is “fortress built near water”. In my college days, my history and geography classes are focused on studying places, people, and phenomena according to the Era and the legends. It was pretty amazing how our world evolved from per-historic times up to this generation of technology and innovation.

While some courageous Overseas Filipino Workers took kuwait airways ticket to work in the oil industry, I choose the path to migrate in the USA and hopefully land a career in the field of Education. I am completely grateful for the opportunity that the United States of America, my home has granted for me. From the amazing stories shared by my professors in the classroom and finally visited the places are to me the most amazing adventure that I have accomplished in life.

Cruising

The ship is called Carnival Imagination and I took this picture while I was on board the NCL's Norwegian Sky. It was my first cruising adventure with hubby and his daughter with the boyfriend. I had a wonderful time well, we all are. Hubby and I wanted to cruise to Bahamas again soon.

We choose to cruise thru Norwegian Cruise Line just taking advantage of the freestyle cruising. To avoid the Miami traffic, we would love to select Port Canaveral as the Port of call because it's just 20 minutes drive from our place. It will be soon ...

Freeport Bahamas

When we left Miami Port to Bahamas, the drizzling rain was annoying but, who am I to complain on the nature's power right? All activities are indoors except for the live band on the pool area. Most guests were gathered on Deck 11 for a Grillin' Party. As we sail away, food was served, music was everywhere and people were dancing, eating, swimming on the pool, kids are playing and just having a good time.It was fun but, it would have been more fun if my mom and my family back home were with me cruisin' at that time. Anyway by 6pm, we were sailing the Pacific Ocean heading towards Freeport Bahamas. On the first evening on the ship, we had our dinner at a fine dining restaurant. I just love the food served at Norwegian Sky. After dinner, there were indoor activities and we came to watch a variety show and a comedy show. It was a blast and we enjoyed it. We sleep like a baby that night and before 6AM; hubby and I got up to see the sunrise. We missed it! Actually, the sun refused to shine because it was raining when we arrived in Freeport Bahamas. Upon seeing Bahamas for the first time, Oh I sure miss the Philippines. It just reminded me of my beautiful country.

The gangway was put down around 9AM and we immediately went to the Port Lucaya area. We took a van for $5/person each way. We check out the beach but, didn't bother to swim because it was raining. We went to Treasure Bay casino and play the slot machine then, we explore the marketplace. The place is beautiful and their beaches are really gorgeous. It was already 5PM when we head back to the Freeport Harbour. Bahamas is a very nice place to have a good relaxing vacation. In the future, I would definitely come back to this island.

Freeport Harbour

When we arrived Freeport Harbour, I told to myself that finally I have seen Bahamas. We were having breakfast at 6 AM at the Garden Restaurant in the Norwegian Sky Cruise Ship. We wanted to see the sunshine that is why; we were up so early and besides, we wanted to dine early too so that; we will be the first to go down the gang way.It was a cloudy day and earlier, it drizzles a little. When we finally went down, we head to the terminal just few meters away, where transportations are waiting for the tourists. All fares are written boldly on the information board so; it was very concise.

We hired a van and paid $5 per person each way. It was old but, we rode comfortably then, we routed a rugged road. There's nothing to see but, dirt road, trees and badly hit houses in ruins by hurricanes. Too bad because they are huge houses but were abandoned. We went to the Treasure Bay Casino and Market Place in Port Lucaya and bought souvenir items. Later, we look for a hotel to use their Free Wi-Fi just in time when the rain started pourin' hard. The view of the beach along Port Lucaya is awesome! We were back on the ship before 5 PM.

Having Fun with Bahamas Cruising

It's been almost a year since hubby and I had our first Bahamas cruise adventure. It was actually a last minute travel because we had no preparation at all. When we saw a $250 per person package on a Bahamas 4-day cruise, we immediately took advantage of the offer.

We drove all the way to Miami which was our Port of Call and parked our car at the parking garage at the port of Miami. We paid $36 for 4 days parking and it was a secure area plus free shuttle. We were transported from the parking garage to the cruise terminal.

Upon arrival, guests have the preference to carry their baggage up to the check-in counter or give it to the staff of the cruise ship. We chose to carry our light baggage. The custom officials at the check-in counter asked for our passport and state ID. It was smooth and fast then; we were given an ID card which we can use on the ship for any transactions. We were directed to our cruise ship's gangway and the cruise ship photographers started taking souvenir pictures of all the guests. On board the cruise ship, we were given free drinks and the fun begins. There's music, happy faces, dancing and since we were hungry for lunch, we immediately went to the restaurant serving a buffet. We sit on the top deck where we see people swimming in the pool as we listen on a live band while waiting for the ship to start rolling to Freeport, Great Stirrup Cay and Nassau.

The captain announced that everyone should participate to the Muster Drill and most of the guests complied. Of course, some thought that it was not important which was illogical. While the ship is sailing, there are so many activities on board which keep the guests entertained. There are variety shows, comedy shows, game shows, karaoke and more. There's no dull moment while you are cruising because you can do shopping, have fun in the casino, enjoy a spa, go the gym, play basketball and so on.

At Freeport and Nassau, hubby and I explored the islands. We went to their beautiful beaches and experienced a ferry boat ride. Great Stirrup Cay is all about the beach, food, party and relaxing. It's living a good life in four days and for $250 per person, that's a deal breaker huh? Are you curious at the offer shown above for $59? Call 1-888-875-4243 for more information about the offer. You might get lucky to have that 2 night Bahamas Cruise offer right?

Marina Village in Atlantis

When we arrived in Nassau, hubby and I decided that we will explore Atlantis in Paradise Island in Bahamas. It was cloudy that day so; we choose to stay indoor in Atlantis Resort and just wander what's inside this grand hotel. When we left, we went down to Marina Village which is about 65,000 square ft of vibrant and beautiful bazaar. It has five unique restaurants namely Johnny Rockets, Carmine’s, Bimini Road, Café’ Martinique and Seafire Steakhouse. This place has 21 retail outlets and local entertainment such as Quantum, Carlo Milano, Starbucks, and many more. It also has a collection of carts that shows the Bahamian artistry. The 21 boutiques and shops features luxury of fashion and beautiful handmade crafts from local Bahamian artisan. We went to the Village Creamery which is an ice cream parlor and bought some ice cream bar which was truly refreshing. Some stores have more tourists coming in to buy beachwear. This bazaar has stores that sells fine jewelry, watches and clothing to crystal and everything which tourists could possibly be looking for such as Dooney & Bourke, Versace JC, John Bull and Solomon's Sea Treasures. The place is very clean and I seldom see locals except that they are employees of the stablishments. I would surely love to visit this place again sometime. We just follow the way towards the ferry boat. We took a ferry boat ride as we head back to the port in Nassau where our cruise ship, the Norwegian Sky was. If you cruise to Bahamas and Nassau, you should check out Marina Village in Atlantis, Paradise Island. It's only $5 fare (van) and $3 if you choose the ferry boat.

Wi-Fi Hot Spot at Festival Place at Nassau Port

I took this picture while I was on board of the Norwegian Sky Cruise Ship. The Festival Place serves as the welcome place at Nassau Port. I saw some Filipino employees of the ship heading to this place with their laptop. The center area has a good spot for WiFi so; everyone was taking advantage. The rate of the WiFi connection on the cruise ship was a bit expensive. In fact, I purchase for an hour just to check on my emails. But as we arrived Nassau Port, I found the WiFi connection coming from Festival Place. If it is windy, the connection is bad. You need to go down inside and you can connect easily.

Clear Blue Water at Nassau Bahamas

Last October, we took the 4-day cruising to Bahamas hopping three islands of Freeport, Great Stirrup Cay and Nassau. While at Nassau, we took the time wandering inside the ATLANTIS luxury hotel. On our way back to the Port, we took the boat ride for $3/person. All the tourists who were with us agreed that this place is blessed with clean and blue water. The gigantic building on the left is the Atlantis and below the bridge is a small wharf for the boat ride heading back to the Port. I took this picture from the 5th deck on Norwegian Cruise Ship. This is the closer look below the bridge. This is the view of the Atlantis Marina as we stroll the area at the same time going to the boat ride back to the cruise terminal. On the middle, you see the boat unloading the passengers. We came from that area and it is just a walking distance to the cruise ships. The boat ride was truly fantastic and the view from everywhere was amazingly beautiful. Nassau Bahamas is a beautiful place to visit. You should go there and I am sure, you will be in great awe!

Boat Rides at Nassau Bahamas

Bahamas is truly a beautiful and enchanting place to spend a family vacation. No wonder that celebrities came here to unwind and acquired properties to be able to stay for a long period of time. If I am rich, I would buy me a vacation house, right in the city of Nassau! In terms of area, Nassau in Bahamas is smaller than Camiguin Island in the Philippines but, three times more populated. As you can see it, the sea water is crystal blue and so clean. The gallant building above is the Atlantis which is known as the Paradise Island of Bahamas. From the Port of Nassau to the Atlantis Marina, boat rides cost $3/person. Hubby and I took the boat ride coming from the Atlantis back to the Norwegian Sky. The Bahamian people that we met are friendly. If you visit Nassau, you should take the glass bottom boat ride and I am sure, you will enjoy it. Of course, the prize is much much higher. The 360 view here was breathtaking!
If you are cruising and you sign up for a boat ride activity from the cruise line, it is more expensive but, if you have the money, why not right? After all, it is well organized and safe. You can take these ships for a short trip. The prices may vary according to the destination.Considering this is a Port area, all of us admire how clean it is. No oil spill and the water is clear, blue, and no trash floating. All the fare prices to a destination is listed in the Festival Place, a welcome center at the port of Nassau. If you ride in a van, the fare is $5/person and it should be full if not, you will pay the seats that covers for the whole trip.

The View of Nassau, Bahamas from the Cruise Terminal

Here's some of the pictures that I took while we were on board the Norwegian Sky Cruiseship. I just can't put down my camera because the view from the ship was truly beautiful. This is Nassau, Bahamas, the last island destination of our 4-days cruise to Bahamas. That is Atlantis, the big building shown in these pictures. The cruise terminal is very clean and the water is deep blue, no trash at all.We visited the Atlantis in the morning and came back to the ship at 3PM. Transportation access is only $4/person which is very affordable.
From the Atlantis, hubby and I decided to take the ferry and it's only $3/person. The ride was enjoyable and interesting. The water is really blue and clean. No sign of crude and trash in the water.I love this place. If I am rich, I will buy me a property here and stay half of the year just relaxing.Atlantis, the Paradise Island in Bahamas is a huge place complete with all the amenities one would ever wish for a great vacation. It is an expensive place too in fact, for Holiday dates, the cheapest room is $319/day. Whewww!

Freeport Grand Bahama

First morning on the cruise - We arrived at Freeport Harbor Grand Bahama. The sun refused to shine but, at 7AM on October 18, this is the view that welcome us in the morning.I woke up my husband before 7AM because the sunrise was supposed to be 7:18 but, it barely come out from the clouds as you can see from the picture below. We had breakfast and by 8AM, we head down to the gangway and proceed to the exit of the port. Most of the guests took an organized shore excursion so; they had to check their tickets for the meeting time. As for us, we want to explore the International Bazaar and Port Lucaya Marketplace and Marina. The fair is only $10 per person for the whole trip. It was a long ride of rural area and undeveloped places. There is nothing special really. Hubby and I decided to check in the Treasure Bay Casino at the Marina area and later on, we explore the International Marketplace where I bought my souvenir Freeport sports cap. Well, hubby won a bit when he used the slot machines. There is no cash out machine here so; you had to change it to their cashier.
The rain poured so hard for maybe 10 minutes and it ceased! We return back to the cruise ship at 1PM because the weather was not that good. We stayed indoors and roaming to the Lucaya area and the Marina. It was a nice place and laid back but, there is nothing special here. The shoreline is just like the coastal view of Florida.
When we head back, we took some pictures of the Freeport Port. The "I was there picture" LOL but, the cruise photographer had their $199 picture package which is unlimited. Most of the cruisers did not take advantage of the offer. It's way too high, I guess.
