Just a Thought on Politics

I refrain from posting issues about politics because some bloggers will ignite in temper once I point some views. During the Presidential election of 2008, I posted issues in politics almost everyday and of course, I got detractors from each camp. I remain observant on what's happening in the US. After Obama won, I believe that people who voted for him see the goodness of his heart and believe that those promises will be fulfilled. People must believe him as the agent of CHANGE. And now, I wonder if those people who voted Obama still have the same trust on him. Yes, nobody can solve the problem overnight. Nobody can solve a problem in just a year term. But, was any of those promises fulfilled yet? Have you felt the change that the Americans desired it to be?

Good Job Former President Clinton

I want to commend Former President Clinton for the successful released of the two journalists Laura Ling, 32 and Euna Lee, 36. They were captured in North Korea while gathering reports about human trafficking to China. They were arrested for illegal entry in North Korea and charged for 12 years in hard labor prison.

If the US did not intervene with their case, it would turn out bad for the concerned family. With Ex-President Clinton in-charged of the mission, the North Korean leader Kim Jong II released the two jailed Americans.

It was heart breaking to hear their ordeal for the past months. Welcome home Laura Ling and Euna Lee! To Ex-President Clinton, Good Job!

First 100 Days Of Obama's Administration

We all have our own prerogative on how we rate the present administration. Rate in a way that the right wing or the left wing can say something positive or not. Big deal? Today is significant because it is President Obama's first 100 days being President of the United States. Have you felt the CHANGE already? Too early to tell right? Tell me, whatever promises he said during election and HE SAY IT CLEARLY, has anything started to change at all?

Sarah Palin On Defenders Of Wildlife

This video is sponsored by the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund attacking on Governor Sarah Palin as anti-wildlife or wolf killer. Ashley Judd, a Hollywood movie star joined the campaign and condemned the Governor as a brutal killer of wolves.
Now, Alaska Governor released this STATEMENT dated Feb.3, 2009 in RESPONSE to this particular video.

“It is reprehensible and hypocritical that the Defenders of Wildlife would use Alaska and my administration as a fundraising tool to deceive Americans into parting with their hard-earned money. “The ad campaign by this extreme fringe group, as Alaskans have witnessed over the last several years, distorts the facts about Alaska’s wildlife management programs. Alaskans depend on wildlife for food and cultural practices which can’t be sustained when predators are allowed to decimate moose and caribou populations. Our predator control programs are scientific and successful at protecting vulnerable wildlife. These audacious fundraising attempts misrepresent what goes on in Alaska, and I encourage people to learn the facts about Alaska’s positive record of managing wildlife for abundance. “Shame on the Defenders of Wildlife for twisting the truth in an effort to raise funds from innocent and hard-pressed Americans struggling with these rough economic times.”

My Thoughts: A Scientific practice of lowering the number of predator animals such as wolves and protect the vulnerable harmless animals such as the ELK, BISON, MOOSE, COYOTE, MUSCOX and other animals .... a good action by the government. They don't kill wolves for the fun of it. They are doing it for the survival of other hopeless animals. Who will protect these helpless and harmless animals anyway? The government only minimized the number of wild animals that attack animals that can't defend themselves. They attack people too. Which is important now? Protecting defenseless animals and protecting the safety of people OR Protecting these vicious predator?

One Voice

"One Voice" a song by Barry Manilow - He is my favorite singer. I remember when I was in high school, I always spent my siesta playing his songs with my guitar. It feels so romantic for me dreaming that my Romeo will come someday and sing me love songs of Barry. Ultimately, I married to my husband who can't find a single tune so, my daydreaming has ended abruptly.LOL. Back to the song , I find this as a song for awareness. Our world is heading towards innovation , that is good...technology wise, people becoming so expert. But, despite of our modern world, hunger is still seen everywhere. This picture depicts poverty amidst the beauty of the blue sea. Kids not in school, even if they wanted too, economic crisis hinder it. They don't swim for fun as tourist did. They swim to entertain passengers in the ship and by doing so, earn a penny. I saw some passengers throwing coins down and the kids swam under the water and sure enough, they catch the coin expertly. For what? For food. Why are they doing it? Where are their parents? Is it safe? Of course it is not safe. But, to grow in that kind of life, kids become used to it and not anymore vulnerable to some bruises of life. Their parents can't afford babysitter while they are working. So, typically, in their world the eldest took care of the youngest. Seeing them down there, all I could do is to reflect. I wanted to help in my own little way in that very moment. I don't throw pennies.... i throw wrapped cookies. Of course, it helped them. They ate and start begging for more. Was my action enough? Nope! They deserve to be heard. Poverty is a huge problem that each one of us must address seriously. Don't solve the macro. Start with your family and relatives. If each one of us, strive to do good deed each day, One Voice is enough to make it known. Happy listening ( browse it on the net) and reflect.

Just One Voice,
Singing in the darkness,
All it takes is One Voice,
Singing so they hear what's on your mind,
And when you look around you'll find
There's more than

One Voice,
Singing in the darkness,
Joining with your One Voice,
Each and every note another octave,
Hands are joined and fears unlocked,
If only

One Voice
Would start it on its own,
We need just One Voice facing the unknown,
And then that One Voice would never be alone,
It takes that One Voice.

It takes that One Voice.

Just One Voice
Singing in the darkness,
All it takes is One Voice,
Shout it out and let it ring.

Just One Voice,
It takes that One Voice,
And everyone will sing!

A Piece of History - PILIPINAS

What happen in the year 1971? This year is significant to me coz it was the year that I was born. I posted in Amiable Amy that it was the year when Plaza Miranda was Bomb and series of events followed after. Ferdinand Marcos at that time is the President of the Philippines and his government was threatened by communist insurgency and civil unrest thus, the following year he proclaimed Martial Law.

During Edsa People Power, people go out and express their sentiments on the street. This is People Power and which ended peacefully.
During Marcos Regime, most of the opposition leaders were put in jail and exiled including Senator Benigno Aquino Jr. In order to please the Catholic Church before the visit of Pope John Paul II, Marcos officially lifted martial law on January 17,1981. However Marcos retained much of the government's power for arrest and detention. Basically, corruption and nepotism as well as civil unrest contributed to a serious decline of the Philippine economy at that time.

1983, opposition leader Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr. was assassinated at the Manila International airport upon his return to the Philippines after a long period of exile. This resulted an anger and too much dissatisfaction by the people with the Marcos regime, including pressure from the United States, that culminated in a snap presidential election in February 1986. The opposition united under Aquino's widow Corazon Aquino. The election were held on February 7, 1986

The election was marred by widespread reports of violence and tampering with results by both sides of the political fence. The official election canvasser which is the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and NAMFREL, an accredited poll watcher declared Marcos as a winner. The allegedly fraudulent result was not accepted by Corazon Aquino and her supporters. International observers, including a U.S. delegation led by Sen.Richard G. Lugar also denounced the official results. Thus PEOPLE POWER, the peaceful civilian-military uprising forced Marcos into exile and installed Corazon Aquino as president and the first woman President of the Philippines on 25 February 1986. Marcos regime lasted for 2 decades. That's how the history unfold from the time I was born.
