#KidsAcademy : Fun and Educational Kids App

In this generation of technology, our children learns faster through online. It is our job as parents to supply them with educational learning materials that will sharpen their cognitive skills as well as the affective skills. Well, by using their hand to manipulate the games is under psychomotor skills so; there goes the balance of learning. Of course, going out to the museum , to the parks and other physical activities are equally important too. For now, I will share with you the apps that I found helpful, fun and educational for children.

I was a school teacher and I know when an app is fun and educational for the little ones. This app is colorful which for sure kids will be drawn to the game easily. The voice used is very natural, enthusiastic, and engaging therefore, kids will be jolly to do the tasks in this game. I like the idea that this app promotes values of patience and the willingness to learn. Aiming to gather more fireflies will make the kids to do the task right and even try harder. Tracing is easy if it is done right. Once the kid trace the number correctly, there are praises at the end of every task which is a good motivation. I like the idea that it promotes a reward system. Do it right, more fireflies plus word of encouragement. I love this app.

This app is easy for the kids too. Parents will be there to guide their children. In this particular game, the puzzle is challenging but, parents should not underestimate the skills of their children. Kids learn fast. If the kids are attentive enough, this puzzle is easy to solve.

Learning the Alphabet should be fun and interesting. I like to see the eyes of my students lit up every time they learn, say, trace and write a letter. The excitement is a joy to my heart. It means that they are open to know more and their inquisitive minds are ready to strike. This game is not only fun but educational as well. The app uses common things that kids easily recognized such as the bee and bus in the letter B. I like the idea that the app also introduced the sound of the alphabet and phonics. Pre-school children can easily manipulate the game thus making the game enjoyable and fun.

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Kid's Academy. I only recommend products I used personally and believed will be good for my readers. All opinions are my own.

Lilly the Ladybug from Zoobies: Review and Giveaway

My niece who lives in UK loves to play, sleep with, and cuddle with Lilly the Ladybug from Zoobies. Lilly the Ladybug was my first pick when I saw the selection of Blanket Pet at Zoobies. I tell you, it was a brilliant choice, my niece adored Lilly and it was a big hit for her! She loves it as a toy and enjoys wrapping up with the blanket that came with it whiles lying down on the sofa watching television.

Lilly the ladybug would make any little girl happy! And just to give you an idea of what to expect when you buy this blanket pet, here is my review:

The overall feature looks adorable! It is a lovely toy made of polyester material and polystyrene foam beads which also served as a pouch that holds the blanket. The face is stuffed with micro beads and spandex as an outer layer that covers it; making the face feels flabby when you touch it. It was probably one of the good reasons why my niece loves it, as she often squeeze the face then, kisses it! Underneath the ladybug toy is two Velcro straps which can be unfasten to make it as a pillow, and fasten it back to make it as a toy. These can also be used as a handle for carrying the toy because my niece did that when she had it with her when they went out to the park.
What I like the most about this blanket pet is the zipped to prevent it from coming out and getting messy. I admit that it was design cleverly and hidden inside the ladybug toy. The blanket is made of soft breathable polyester that has a soft feeling when it touches the skin. I can fully understand why my little niece loves to snuggle under it. Lilly the Ladybug is comfy and surprisingly large enough for a 4 (almost 5) year old girl! I love the fact that Zoobies theme is play, sleep and love, which I noticed and this is what Zoobies has given to my little niece: a toy for playing, a blanket for sleeping, and a pet to love called Lilly. Check out how she got Lilly in this post: HERE.

Early Shopping for Baby Carriers

The moment you know that you conceived a precious child in your womb, wealth of emotions play in your aura. That's what I noticed from my friends who look so radiant, happy and excited when they knew that they are pregnant. If you've been on the hunt for a great baby sling but are confused of which to choose, you're not the only one! There are many different styles so you should definitely do your research. Try reading reviews and browsing different baby sling websites.

I have one friend who already shop for baby carrier options, bought baby clothes up to 24 months and renovate one room for the baby. They look forward to welcome the new member of the family and taking care of pregnancy needs, set aside budget for labor costs, making to-do lists are but usual preparations. I call it responsible parenthood and glad to know that they are excited for the new member of the family.

Anyway, children bring joy and happiness in the family. It may be a riot when the house is full of kids but, when they went out for a sleep-over in granny's place, the quietness in the house is deafening. My cousin called me on the phone the other day and wanted a chit-chat because she was bored in the house. The kids spent their weekends in their grannies so; she's all by herself and she's not used to it. She misses the children so bad for they are the only one that can make the house lively and fun.

Potty Cover Review

When my sister needed a helping hand to take care of her daughter for a day, I volunteered. I get along well with my niece and to keep her busy, we went to mall so she can play and try the new rides. She is well-trained with cleanliness so; when we went to the bathroom, she immediately asked for a toilet seat cover. I was well-prepared because last week, I received this disposable toilet seat cover for children. It covers the sides and the front of the toilet and my niece likes it because she was comfortable.I had the chance to try this disposable toilet seat cover for my niece that day. There are 6 individually wrapped potty cover in a bag and I find it very handy as I just simply slip 2 of this in the tiny bag of my niece. The potty cover is amazingly soft; it is made of non-woven fabric with a plastic layer to keep anyone sitting on it dry. I can attest that this is really brilliant for kids. When my niece used it, the potty cover is long enough in the front to keep her legs and undies from rubbing against the toilet. The long flops on the sides also keeps her hands clean when she holds the sides for support as she sits down on the toilet. She was fussy when we went to the bathroom but, with this potty cover, she doesn’t seem to bother anymore!

When my sister took my little niece home, I gave her the remaining four pieces which she was very pleased to have. She said it is nothing like the ordinary type and would definitely buy and use it. This product is a must-have for parents. You can buy a pack of PottyCover for $5.99 at Amazon, Ebay, all Buy Buy Baby stores nationwide and at select Bed Bath & Beyond stores. Check it out!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Children Learn What They Live by Dorothy Law Nolte

Sharing to all of you the famous words of wisdom by Dorothy Law Nolte. Snagged from a magazine, the page was on my desk the whole time when I was teaching for 12 years. When I felt hopeless, I just glance into this and focus on the positive note to make a difference. The picture below was taken in Museo Pambata, Philippines.

If a child lives with criticism,
he learns to condemn.

If a child lives with hostility,
he learns to fight.

If a child lives with fear,
he learns to be apprehensive.

If a child lives with pity,
he learns to feel sorry for himself.

If a child lives with ridicule,
he learns to be shy.

If a child lives with jealousy,
he learns what envy is.

If a child lives with shame,
he learns to feel guilty.

If a child lives with encouragement,
he learns to be confident.

If a child lives with tolerance,
he learns to be patient.

If a child lives with praise,
he learns to be appreciative.

If a child lives with acceptance,
he learns to love.

If a child lives with approval,
he learns to like himself.

If a child lives with recognition,
he learns that it is good to have a goal.

If a child lives with sharing,
he learns about generosity.

If a child lives with honesty and fairness,
he learns what truth and justice are.

If a child lives with security,
he learns to have faith in himself and in those about him.

If a child lives with friendliness,
he learns that the world is a nice place in which to live.

If you live with serenity,
your child will live with peace of mind.

Love your children and do not take them for granted.

I am A Proud Mommy

This is Maverick, my nephew and he is 6 years old. He is the second child of my eldest brother. I am so close to my brothers kids because every weekend, I borrowed them and they stay over with me for two days. They love my place because it is air conditioned and they can play with my computer. Maverick is very inquisitive and very talkative. And he love cars a lot. He have so many toy cars and he played online games of car racing too.
All my nephews and nieces usually call me Mommy. Early this morning, my brother informed me that Maverick finally got the Science Class in his new school. In the picture above, he is the 5th child from the right and he is the first honor of their class last March.
Usually, the third week of May starts the Enrollment in the Philippines and the classes begin by June. Maverick had to enroll in a bigger school and because he is a new pupil, he had to take the exam and interview. There were more than a thousand who took the exam. The result? He was among the top 200 who scored high. They were given another schedule to comeback and take another exam. Guess what? He rank number 2 among the 200 kids who took the exam. That was so much good for us and we are so proud of him.
He is at the middle in this picture. Way to go Maverick.

Spring Poem

Signs of Spring

These are early signs of spring,

When flowers bloom and robins sing.

From their safe warm winter beds,

Flowers pop their little heads.

These are early signs of spring,

When flowers bloom and robins sing!

My Teacher Calls Me Sweetie Cakes

My teacher calls me sweetie cakes.
My classmates think it's funny
to hear her call me angel face
or pookie bear or honey.

She calls me precious baby doll.
She calls me pumpkin pie
or doodle bug or honey bunch
or darling butterfly.

My class is so embarassing
I need to find another;
just any class at all
in which the teacher's not my mother.

Beauty And The Beast In Hollywood Studios

Beauty and the Beast attraction is located in Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood Studious' Disney World, Orlando-Florida. This is a 30 minute live, musical and Broadway style show.

This particular scene is where Belle went to the village and Gaston is bragging to the village that he will marry her.
Belle in the village and just singing the song about her stuck in a provincial life.
The scene shows Belle, with the village people and she is singing a song. This stage show is truly a Broadway type , Belle is the soloist and the back up are the village people. Acting and singing all in one.
This is the beggar who turns the prince into a beast for his wicked behaviour. She turns into an enchanting fairy and curse the prince into a beast.
I bet you knew what happen to this story. If you don't know, ask your child....he/she knows better hahaha. This is actually one of my favorite animated movie. Well, I still choose the movie than this one. The cast of this show are excellent performer and the choreography are excellent too.
I just remember when I work in Liceo de Cagayan-Grade School (CDO-Phil), Belle is the character that my class presented during a Character Contest. I bought the tape, not CD...hehehe and gave it to my pupil and let her memorize this particular scene. And she wore the same attire, blue and white simple dress...hehehe... our class won, she won. So, I gave her that CD as a remembrance. I can't remember her name now. The event is still vivid though. Oh, this happens 14 years ago. Gosh!

I Miss My Little Friend

This was taken after we play tag, then, she sit down and rested. I said, smile....she just leaning in her right arm and put the other one on her lap and slightly move her head. Then, I click...after this take, she burst out laughing. Was so amazed!
This is my little friend in Orlando. She is 19 months old now. Look at her, she really smile at the camera, I set it for 10 seconds and we just hold our smile until it will click...no flash, i forgot.
She loves to smile. The last time I heard from her was, she is counting Spanish numbers. She can count from 1 to 10 though before I left, now, she just follow Dora's counting...LOL!
She loves to be at my back. Kids loves this anyway. When I squat on the floor she would immediately mounted on my back before I could escape....LOL!
Okay, that was it. I just miss her when I saw these pictures. I will be seeing her soon.

Caylee Anthony: Remembering An Angel

You may say a prayer for her and pray to give her grandfather strength to move on.
Today is her memorial. Remembering her:* as that 3 year old little girl;
* reported as missing (by her grandmother) after a month;
* the case was involved by FBI and was highly sensationalized;
* she became a headline in popular magazine such as People Magazine and Globe magazine;
* her mom told lies about her where about;
* her mom Casey is presently in jail for a first degree murder of Caylee;
* her body was found dump in the woods wrapped in a bag less than a minute away from home;
* and today, she was laid to rest.

I just hope that she will be the last victim of this kind of crime. I hope she will be in heaven. She will have justice for sure but, it would only shatters the family and it would never bring her life back.

Toys For Kids

This is my little friend again, this is her favorite Unicorn. She rides on it and even pet on it because the head moves and the tail wiggles. It also feature sounds. This will help the child enhance her animal awareness, familiarization of sounds and develop psycho motor ability.
These are her toys that would develop her appreciation of music and sounds, visual familiarization of pictures and its name.
These are her toys that she could manipulate and develop critical thinking and also Patience...LOL! She loves this specially now that she knew how to match the shapes.
These are blocks. She love stacking and she is so good in this activity. This would develop her color recognition and creativity.
These are different cards intended for 3 year old. When the parents tried to use these educational materials to her (18months), she is right now can recognize most of the pictures. She can say the words correctly....Try it to your kids. Just show the picture for a week...too long? Nope. Just show the cards and say the name and say something about it. Say " This is a banana. This is food." Then, say it more than once, Repetition is good. Don't ask yet. Use 30 cards a day for a week. Do not ask the baby " What is this? yet". The next week, you will say, "This is a banana" ,then say " What is this?" Well, just a simple tip. Actually, my little friend knows the 36 cards in just 3 days. The 4th day, I just show the cards and ask what it was and she can say the words clearly. Hoping it works with your kids.

Need some toys for your child? It is all here. Visit Wooden Toys, your kids will love it.
