Ocean Springs, Mississippi Beach View

I compiled some photos that I took in Ocean Springs, Mississippi Beach. Visitors and locals came here for fishing, swimming, crabbing, boating and just drove by to unwind and relax. The Mayor really gives importance in enhancing the beauty of this place. They just finish the Maurepas Park which is an awesome place to sit in one of the benches and look at the Gulf of Mexico. You can park and swim here for FREE. If you wanna do crabbing and fishing, you should get a license before you can do all these activities. The license is good for a year. But, if you are under 16 years old and over 64 years old, you are exempted. To get the latest information, visit mdwfp.com .
People who park in this side of the beach usually go for boating. There is a nice boat launch nearby and a good point to start boating towards little islands nearby such as DEER ISLAND and Ship Island. That is the Deer Island as you can see in the picture below ( notice the trees at the far corner). It's a bit distance from this beach but, you can see it clearly.
If it's spring time, people stay on the beach playing volleyball. This is the view when you are in Maurepas Park.
The beautiful view of the Gulf with teenagers playing volleyball. On this particular day, the wind is blowing and a little bit chilly but, the warm heat of the sun will give you comfort on the beach.
That is a nice Pier which is good for fishing. A place which is good to visit and enjoy the view of the ocean. Bring a sweater though because after few minutes, you will feel chilly.

This is another Pier which me and hubby frequent for crabbing and fishing. We caught more than a dozen of crabs here and a flounder too. So; if you happen to visit Mississippi Gulf Coast, take time to visit Ocean Springs and the beaches. It is truly wonderful to take a little adventure here.

Healthy Food for a Healthy Body

I love to eat and my body figure remains the same. I am not a body conscious kind'a person and in fact, my goal is to gain weight. I weigh 95 lbs only and passing a 100lbs is too hard for me to achieve. These are the sweets, cakes and pastries that I usually ate whenever we dine out. If we are not rushing, I can eat this food on the plate. Are these food healthy or not? Sometimes, we just eat according to what we crave right?
I am not fond of eating too much cake lately. Maybe because we have this in my workplace and it's FREE all the time. I tell you what? I don't eat the filling and the icing on the cake too. I am not on a diet but, I don't crave for it.

Now, these are onion rings, boilede and fried shrimps, corn bread, mashed potato and a chicken. I honestly do not count the calories when I ate but, I just go eat what soothe my tastebuds. If I am hungry, I maybe can finish these food but, most of the time I don't. I might eat the corn bread and that's it. Do not get me wrong, these are delicious but, I guess I am picky with food.

Here is what I can eat: seafood, rice, mushrooms, baked potato and a little bit of fried shrimp. I also noticed lately that I am not fond of eating fried foods. Baked foods are good for me too. I love rice especially steamed rice. I only eat instant rice in the casino. Here is a healthy salad that I love to eat most of the time at home. I use Italian dressing and creamy caesar salad dressing too. Salads are healthy and that is for sure and I love fresh lettuce. My metabolism is really good so, the more I move, I am okay. We should choose healthy food to have a healthy body and have a sound mind right?

Bored But Relax

What's with the feet pics? A big LMAO! I was not bored in fact, I was having a good time. We went to Hard Rock on this day and we played few slot machines. My husband and I just love our temporary home here in Mississippi. I did able to find a job, it is not the greatest but, the paycheck is good. Everyday we have so many things to do in here. There is so much to see and I have so much to show you too. Oh well, Hard Rock is a place that we always visit because of the ambiance of the place and the sumptuous food that they have in the buffet. This picture was taken when we are waiting for our car in the valet park.

I know there are people in this world who do not like feet, LOL. Pardon me! I just can't help myself but take this picture to describe the moment. The view is truly great and I was just leaning on the passenger's seat. This is a beautiful place to unwind, FREE of charge!

Teachers as Board of Election Inspectors

May 10 is the Philippines Election 2010 and I cannot vote for the first time. I just do not have the information where to vote while living here in the US. I will make sure though that on the next election, I can participate my rights to vote.

This is also the first election that I am FREE from being called to become a BEI. Usually, I was given the task of being a Chairman in a precinct of 200-340 voters. One time, I was given a precinct with A and B group and that was so tiring because it needs two preparation of official returns.

It is not easy to hold the position as one of the BEI's especially if the assigned location is considered as "hotspot". Some teachers risks their lives to protect the ballot box and yet, teachers were accused of cheating.

As a Chairman, I come to the meeting place on time. Did you know that the Election starts before 8 AM but the teachers as BEI report at dawntime? Some actually stay over the place, the eve of the election. The 3 BEI's should be on the meeting place together or else, all the election paraphernalias will not be given to them.

To get the election paraphernalia, the chairman should be around at all times and check evrything in the checklist from the official election returns to rubber band and safeguard the ballot box and keys. Sleepy and tired? YES already! By at least three AM, if you are lucky and early to get out from the line then, you can proceed to the respective precincts and BEI's can rest while waiting for the election. Tough Job huh? Wanna know more? Stay tuned .

An HGTV Fan

Since I was in the Philippines, I watched HGTV channel because I was fascinated with home designing, flipping houses, room makeover and every show in it. When I came to the US and lived in Orlando, I was a plain housewife and my only entertainment was watching TV. From sunrise to sundown, the TV is glued on HGTV. My husband doesn't like it because for him, it was boring. When I started blogging two years ago, one of the hosts of HGTV became a follower of my blog. Well, he is a blogger too and he came to my blog because of another blogger who is an artist and home decorator. Amazing right? Of course, they do not visit my blog too often because I talk about anything and they can't relate if I talk about my culture. They only visit if I talk about home design and post pictures about lovely interior of homes.

Why I reminisce all these? Now that my husband took an early retirement and I am presently working, it took me by surprised that he is now a fan of HGTV! A miracle happened,LOL! Since we moved here in Mississippi temporarily to be with my father in law, all we dreamed is to buy a new property. It fascinates him to see the show about flipping houses. He said he had a good information about how to find a good property. I know a little bit about that already, LOL. I own a property before we got married and finding a good location is a must.

Right now, if I had the time, I watch the show with him. It was really FUN! Try it yourselves! Watch the show and I bet, you will love it too.

Get a Nikon Brand

What are the material things that I treasured as of this moment? There are actually three of them: my laptop, my phone and my digital camera. I always have them with me wherever I go. I only have an ordinary digital camera and I really wanted to buy an SLR. My sister advised me to get a Nikon brand because she has one. She loved it and I heard her husband gave her a new one for her birthday this year. It is expensive but, it is worth the money because every features are incredible as what she told me. She loves to take pictures now since the result of all her adventures were really amazing. I take her word for it and I am convinced because aside from her, my old boss had the same brand too

Actually, my old boss is working as a librarian and currently in-charged in Audio Visual Room. When there are activities in the University, she is an official photographer among others. We were friends in one of the social network site and I saw her works. It was really excellent and then I came to find out in one of her pictures, she was using a Nikon brand! How amazing is that? Yes, I am saving my money to buy an SLR and the brand is undoubtedly Nikon. It will be added to my collection and I bet, it will become my most favorite gadget by that time.

Point of View

It is good to have readers especially coming from google. Authentic ones that just love to read what I wrote. Thank you for the visit and all your messages. What I can not understand and is upsetting for me is that, there are readers of my blog who constantly on standby and trying to get my post and reposted it on their sites! It is really weird! All my posts are sole ownership of the author and that is me. When I tried to google it, I found some of my work on their blogs. That is a NO-NO! Plagiarism is a crime. Try to progress your skills in writing and do not copy from others. You can improve! I am trying with mine too. So, choose to be a good person and it's not too late to start now.

Mispelled Words

I woke up at 1 AM today and I wanted to blog and post all my unfinished opportunities. I did update three of my blogs since I wanted to write about Divine Mercy Sunday which is celebrated today throughout the world by the Catholics.
I was awake for 9 hours now and all I did was window shopping online and talking to my family back home. When I tried to check on my blogs, I notice that the word DIVINE, I mis-spelled it. I was really upset! In three blogs, I mis-spelled the word Divine to DEVINE. All i have in my mind is a lady name "Devinagracia" and so, I typed Devine. I found it out too late. People google it already and it was indexed as Devine.
Anyway, can't fixed it no more unless if I wanted to delete it. But, I let it that way. I corrected my posts at once!

How to Recite The Chaplet of Divine Mercy

Today is Divine Mercy Sunday. For those of you who would like to learn how to pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, here is the guide. Source of this information was taken from EWTN.COM. Visit the website for more information about the Divine Mercy.

1. Begin with the Sign of the Cross, 1 Our Father, 1 Hail Mary and The Apostles Creed.
2. Then on the Our Father Beads say the following:

"Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world."

3. On the 10 Hail Mary Beads say the following:

"For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world."

(Repeat step 2 and 3 for all five decades).

4. Conclude with (three times):

"Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world."

Jesus said to Sister Faustina:

"Say unceasingly this chaplet that I have taught you. Anyone who
says it will receive great Mercy at the hour of death. Priests
will recommend it to sinners as the last hope. Even the most
hardened sinner, if he recites this Chaplet even once, will
receive grace from My Infinite Mercy. I want the whole world to
know My Infinite Mercy. I want to give unimaginable graces to
those who trust in My Mercy...."

"....When they say this Chaplet in the presence of the dying, I
will stand between My Father and the dying person not as the just
judge but as the Merciful Savior".

Date Night Movie

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of 20th Century Fox. All opinions are 100% mine.

Do you want to see a good movie that is entertaining and fun to watch? I would suggest that you watch Date Night Movie starring Tina Fey. Just to refresh your memory, the lead actress is a good impersonator of Republican Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin. Tina Fey is an award-winning comedienne and a multi-talented actress. Associated Press adored her in fact, she was given an AP Entertainer of the Year award in 2008. If you are looking for a good comedy movie, consider this in your list. The movie release date will be on April 9, 2010 starring Steve Carell and Tina Fey.

Here is the video trailer of Date Night Movie:

Watch the trailer linked above and do not forget to watch the movie on opening weekend.

The story is about a bored suburban couple played by Steve Carell and Tina Fey. Both go on their weekly dinner date but on this particular night, they find themselves thrown into a night of intrigue. As you can see in the trailer, there’s breaking and entering, a car chase and a shootout. There was even a showdown with an underworld boss at a strip club. Both were able to come out of the adventure with some scratches but with a renewed passion to each other. Watch this movie in the theatre near you and have a good time.

Water Conservation

We are so lucky in this generation that the access of clean water is instant. What I meant was that when we need water, we just turn on the faucet and clean water will flow either warm or cold. Back when I was teaching in a hinterland in the Philippines, I had the privileged of drinking clean water from the spring. Actually, the source of the clean and crystal water was under the big boulder in a forested area. It was very cold too as if you took a glass of water from the fridge. We should be thankful of the innovation and technology that we have at present such as having clean water at the comfort of our home. All we need to do is conserve water for a world cause. There is another way to support water conservation, check out Dual Flush Toilets product. This is invented by David Bauer who wass inspired by the needs of his family. He aimed to invent a product that focus to conserve water and going green. Your family can both conserve water and save money using this product. Visit the link provided here now.

Balikbayan Box: Manila Forwarders

Last February 1,2010, I sent a jumbo balikbayan box to the Philippines. It was the picked up day and scheduled to shipped out and my third time to use in sending my Balikbayan box. I have online tracking, by March 1, was so glad that the box arrived in the Manila and in the Port of Manila. Just like my other boxes sent before, the box arrived in Manila in four weeks.
I was impressed and I blogged about it HERE. It is April 6 in the Philippines now and the box was nowhere. The ETA was still on shipped out. I do not know if I can trust it again. I have two boxes here, Manila Forwarder box ready to ship, but i am so hesitant. I texted them last week and they did not reply. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED! It is more than 8 weeks!

Virtue of Humility

This is a repost which I wrote a year ago during LENT season.
*********
In the Philippines, Holy Thursday is celebrated by Filipino Catholics by attending the mass and witness the re-enactment of " Jesus washing the feet of the apostles". The significance of this event would sumed up to a TOTAL HUMILITY. If we only have the virtue of humility then, the world will be a better place to live. Let me be the first one to admit that I am a sinner. Sometimes, we are so arrogant to say sorry because we are determined to make even to those who hurt us. The human side is always winning. Following Jesus way would seemed too much for us to respond. We are only human and that is often times our excuse. But, we are reminded during LENT to consider the invitation of Jesus. Embrace humility in our daily activities:

•Say sorry if you are at fault and strive to be good.
•Acknowledge that you make mistakes and correct your actions.
•Controlling your temper is a sign of humility.
•When you are caught in the traffic jam, calm down.
•If someone is mad at you, stay out of trouble. Let it cool down.

These are daily incidents that we encounter each day. We might not notice it but, when we are in these situations, we tend to get Angry, Defensive, Arrogant, High Tempered and Hateful. Jesus teaching is nowhere in the picture anymore. Let this day be a reminder that Jesus wanted us to follow him by embracing the VIRTUE OF HUMILITY.

Have a Blessed Good Friday

Today is a good Friday and an important day especially for Catholics. I remember back in the Philippines, my whole family stayed home and watched a religious movie or simply listen to a story aired on the local radio. Some of us would go to the chapel across the street and listen to the "syete palabras" or 7 last words of Jesus.

In the afternoon, we usually attend the "way of the cross procession" while some of my cousins were chosen as the Christ persona or the apostles. The procession is done on the streets of our place while every station, a short play is being performed to show the life of Jesus on the way to crucify Him. The procession starts in the church and ends up there too.

Good Friday is a yearly event to remind us that amidst the busy life that we had, we need to kneel down and pray. I am a sinner myself and I need to take a break and spend this day speaking to God in prayers in my own little way. Thanking God for the air that I breathe, for the good health that I enjoyed, for the food on the table, for the safety of my family and friends, for the blessings of life each day, for the waking moments, for the joy and happiness, for the laughters and for all the comforts of life....I thank God for all of these. Of course, I thank Him for the pains that I endure because it made me stronger as a person. I thank him for the tears I shed and for all the heartbreaking moment I experienced in life.

It doesn't hurt your ego if you give thanks to God, right now. Have a blessed Good Friday everyone!
