Elizabeth Taylor 1932-2011

Elizabeth Taylor, the iconic beauty was dead at 79. One of the most beautiful faces in Hollywood and known to her cause of AIDS awareness, research and cure. We knew that she was married 8 times to 7 husbands. She was survived by her four children, ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. I found this picture online and for me, this photo defines Elizabeth Taylor, goddess of beauty! She was a devoted and generous humanitarian and committed to funding an HIV and AIDS-related projects and charities. She was one of the first celebrities to do so, pioneered in organizing and hosting AIDS fundraiser in 1984. Barry Manilow was interviewed on TV and said that Elizabeth was so grateful that he said YES to her cause. For 20 years, Elizabeth never forgotten to send him gardenias on his birthday. He mentioned that Elizabeth is a REAL PERSON and looked like a princess! Rest in Peace Elizabeth Taylor.

Rants

Today is just one of those moments where "IF I CAN TURN BACK THE TIME" attitude. Wooohoooo! Hubby and I gathered our papers for tax preparation. We realized that we had more spending and few savings last year! That's not a wise plan, right? Well, so much was spent and it's high time to save for rainy days! That would mean, I need to find a real job again! Work from home job is just a sideline. I can't face the computer whole day or else, I will have a migraine attack! A year ago, I tried working online but, I can't keep up with the offers. I still prefer the life of working in the real world. Funny huh? I love blogging, don't get me wrong! Blogging is my way of expressing my rants and raves. Besides, working online is NO sweat at all but, my eyes will just surrender! My long vacation will end soon, i know, because right now I am bored staying at home.

Caylee and Casey

July 15,2008 - The story of the missing child Caylee Anthony who later found dead. Casey Anthony, the 25 year old mother was the main suspect. That heartbreaking story made the headline news after Cindy Anthony (grandmother) called 911 who reported that Caylee is missing.Caylee Anthony was 3 years old when her body found after 6 months. Just look at the face of this angel, I can only sigh. It's been almost three years now and no justice for her death yet. The suspect, Casey Anthony is still in jail and waiting for her trial scheduled in May 2011.
She will have justice for sure but, it would never bring her life back.

Camp Site Visit

We went to a camp site yesterday. Actually, it is not the normal camp grounds that you probably have in your mind right now. It is a prison facility which they call camps and the inmates, they call campers. The campers committed crimes because of bad choices and as I looked at them, they are normal educated individuals. Yesterday was our fourth visit and by listening to their stories, it made me realized how lucky we are who chose to be a LAW-ABIDING citizen. Why I call them normal people? I saw campers who are mothers hugging their sons and daughters. I saw daughters, misty eyes talking to their parents. They have no crazy tattoos or fierce-looking faces! We were accommodated in a visitors lounge, a huge canteen-type area. There are tables and chairs and you can sit wherever you want. You can't bring anything except few bucks, car keys and your ID. When you go inside the visitors area, you will feel at ease. It is not like the typical prison cell in movies with all the guards everywhere. My first time to see the campers, they live OKAY but, not okay because it is still a prison cell. Y'all know what I mean right?

Most of them performs white-collar jobs before they were convicted to a crime punishable in a low minimum penitentiary. Most of them probably committed crimes such as fraud and drug position. The facility is open but, they have strict regulations! Any campers can scape if they want because they are not lock down, no fences or barb wire around them! Their quarters are not lock with steel bars. It is like a college campus but, for so many years you can't go home!

With this experience, it taught me to EMBRACE the GIFT of FREEDOM! It is EASY to follow the rules of the society. It is my pleasure to RESPECT the rights of other people! We have the freedom to choose our friends so, stay away from bad influence! Stay out of trouble and please, PRAY hard that GOD will be there for guidance. Be GOOD everyone!

Japan's Aftermath

As far as the eyes can see, this picture tells us the horrendous tsunami aftermath. It's beyond imagination that for one day, the magnitude of devastation in Japan is just for real. Japanese is well prepared when it comes to engineering capabilities for earthquake disturbance but, nobody is prepared for a tsunami! Humans can only run to the highest ground. No matter how prepared we are as we claimed, if mother nature gets back to us, we are NOTHING!

After earthquake, tsunami came that swallowed everything in it's path and now, the Nuclear Meltdown! This tragedy is too much to handle but, look at the Japanese? Have you seen them patiently waiting to buy a limited supply of food? Have you ever seen someone shouting to each other or pushing to get through first? NO ONE! That is an attitude that all of us should digest if we are in a similar situation! Japanese are so calm and they patiently take turns despite that long lines to get a galloon of water! Wheww! I admire their courage, patience and discipline! Did this tragedy impacted your life in some way? I welcome your thoughts.

Mardi Gras Parade is FUN

Yesterday was the last day of Mardi Gras parade in Mississippi particularly in Biloxi. Usually, our favorite location to catch the beads in this city is in front of Hardrock Hotel and Casino. The street in this area is very spacious and the city will detour the motorists main road during the parade. I will definitely miss the fun, the crowd and all the happy faces. It's like, when you see everybody, they are all your friends and everybody will smile back at you.
The lil girl on the float is my niece, she was invited to throw beads. The more beads on the float, the merrier because the people who watch the parade is eager to catch the fanciest, the unique beads. For them, it is like a trophy! These pictures were taken last year in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. It was so cold and everybody was covered with a throw blanket. I swear, it was so cold that your nose would start to numb! If you won't join the fun of catching beads, you will be frozen LOL :-) , (joke)!

For two consecutive years, we went to every parade in nearby cities. The biggest mardi gras parade that I love was the mardi gras in D'Iberville in Mississippi. This place has the longest, most decorated floats, and plenty of participants. People came from different direction of the area.

Mardi Gras is indeed different from the parades that we had back home. When you watch Mardi Gras parades, you will participate all through out because you have to catch the beads, moon pies and teddy bears. Remembered my first time, was too shy to wave my hand and get the attention of those on the float :-) When I looked around, I was the only one, sat on my folding chair and everybody else were jumping and tagging the beautiful beads.

I am telling you, it was no fun when you just pick up the beads laying on the streets! When you catch it though, the FUN begins and you want to catch more!

Mardi Gras Beads

I love Mardi Gras Season! Hubby and I are planning to visit Mississippi and watch all the Mardi Gras Parades in Biloxi, D'Iberville and Ocean Springs. Since New Orleans is just nearby, we plan to go there too but, our plans take a detour when the gas price went up!
It would be too expensive to go there considering the price of gas plus the hotel stay. It would be ridiculous to spend so much money just to catch the beads, right? So, we rather save our money for a cruise to Bahamas than, spend it on gas. Guess, that would be a wise idea for now!

Faces of Drug Addiction

I always watch the news every morning and these pictures are on the headline news. This is a reality and should served as an awakening to all of us that DRUGS can ruin lives! For those who just ignore the facts, this too will likely to happen to their lives. It's your own choice, your own will and there is no one to blame but, YOURSELF alone!Problems? Each one of us have problems but, to embrace on drugs it would simply makes our lives miserable even more! To counter the misery and struggles that we have, we should be prayerful and make our family as the inspiration. I have my own weakness and I have my own share of burden that to some point I thought I have the greatest problem in the world! Alas! I looked around and tried to listen to the problems of others! Guess what? Their problems are as great as mine! I never tried DRUGS and would NEVER EVER TRY! You know why? I love myself and I love God!It is high time to LISTEN because at the end of the day, you will realize that God is good to you. Let us not be one of them and may we continue living according to the norms of the society. Stay OUT OF DRUGS and remember, LOVE YOUR SELF!
